The Electrochemical Society, established in 1902 as the American Electrochemical Society, has always been a melting pot of scientific disciplines. As an organization today, the mission of the ECS is to advance theory and practice relating to electrochemistry and solid state science technology, and allied subjects. To encourage research, discussion, critical assessment, and dissemination of knowledge in these fields, ECS holds meetings, publishes scientific papers, fosters training and education of scientists and engineers, and cooperates with other organizations to promote science and technology in public interest.
